(link here) Contact the Governor General’s office, your Member of Parliament, people on the committee–to politely and continually express your concern over the Order of Canada’s protocol being broken in order to see Morgentaler receive this appointment. The Order of Canada is all about celebrating our identity as a Nation, please communicate that you do not believe abortion is something to be celebrated.

Stats Canada: Induced Abortions in Canada in hospitals and clinics 1970: 11, 200 2005: 97, 254 (last year of available stats) These statistics are conservative because not all hospitals and clinics are required to report abortion numbers.

A Time for Honesty

On July 1, 2008 it was announced that Henry Morgentaler, Canada’s most famous abortion rights crusader was being inducted into the Order of Canada; our nation’s highest civic honour. Controversy was expected to come from this announcement, and Canadians have not disappointed, with strong reactions coming from pro choice and pro-life activists. The unexpected response has come from those in Canada who up until a week ago had no strong feelings on the issue. It would seem that Morgentaler, who effectively silenced expressions of opposition to abortion on demand, has, with this nomination, re-opened the debate. Maybe this time we can engage in it honestly.

Canadians for Moral Clarity strongly opposes Dr. Morgentaler’s induction into the Order of Canada. This nomination has put a stamp of approval on the practice of abortion, an approval that many Canadians are unwilling to bestow. We strongly disagree with the out of the ordinary process that led to his membership and stand firmly against his inclusion in the Order of Canada, our nation’s highest civilian honour.

Keeping the Lord’s Prayer in Ontario

On February 13, 2008, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, stated that he would like to see the practice of reciting the Lord’s Prayer in the Ontario Legislature come to an end. The Premier asked that an all-party committee be established to examine the use of the Prayer as well as a “more inclusive approach that reflects 21st century Ontario.”

On the contrary, Philip Pullman states: “His Dark Materials is not a fantasy, but stark realism.” He also says: “Readers have told me that the daemons, which at first seem so utterly fantastic, soon become so familiar and essential a part of each character that they, the readers, feel as if they’ve got a daemon themselves. On Tuesday evening, February 20, Telus decided to suspend its newly instituted adult-content service. The company had heard from a broad range of its customers, shareholders and religious leaders who did not support the availability of pornographic material on their cellphones.

Telus, Canada’s second largest phone company has made a decision to provide pornographic videos, strip teases, and photos to its customers. This move makes them the first wireless provider in our country to offer pornography fro $3-4 per video or image.
